About US Passport photos
A US Passport photo must be 51 × 51 mm (2 × 2 in) with your face centred, a neutral expression and a plain light background. FileTinker crops to that exact ratio and exports at 600 × 600 px and 300 DPI so it prints at the right physical size.

The US asks for a square 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm) photo taken within the last six months, with the head measuring 1 to 1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm) from chin to top of hair. Since November 2016, eyeglasses are not allowed in US passport photos, and sunglasses or tinted lenses are rejected outright. The State Department's photo checklist is the final word — rules do change.
